Island Vir is one of the 300 islands of Zadar archipelago, one of 1186 islands and islets in the Croatian Adriatic.

It is laid in the Vir sea in the northwest part of Dalmatia.

Twentieth in size among the Croatian islands, and eighth in the Zadar archipelago.

20 km away from Zadar.

It is connected with the mainland by a bridge since 1976.

Coastline is quite rugged, has a number of bays, headlands and cliffs.

Area of the island is 22 square km and the lenght is 10 km.

The average number of sunshine hours per year is around 2450, almost 300 days of sunshine.

This makes a pleasant climate throughout the year.

The average temperature in July is 24.5 °C, and 6.5 °C in January.
